Mandi
Mandi is the central district of Himachal Pradesh, India. There is also a town called Mandi, which has a distinguished history and interesting architecture. It is also an important transportation hub for the district. Sundarnagar is one of the emerging towns of this district. Mandi has a highly educated middle class and people speak a dialect of Pahari called Mandyali.
History
Mandi district was formed with the merger of Mandi and Suket, two princely states on 15 April 1948. This coincided with the formation of the state of Himachal Pradesh.it was named up on MANDAVYA RISHI(earlier known as mandavya nagar).
Approach
Rail: The nearest railway stations are Joginder Nagar and Shimla by narrow gauge train, Chandigarh and Kalka by broad gauge train which are connected by regular bus services.
Road: Mandi is approachable by road from Shimla, Chandigarh, Pathankot and Delhi. There are regular bus services linking it to the other towns like Manali, Palampur and Dharamshala.
